Ipswich Town host Liverpool on Friday 4 September at 20:00. Everton play Manchester United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday at 14:00, and Arsenal host Chelsea at 16:30. Manchester United have scored five league goals this season and Bruno Fernandes has had a hand in four of them.
The 2026-27 Premier League returns on Friday night after a fortnight in which the only football that mattered was the transfer window shutting.
Matchweek 3 opens at Portman Road, Ipswich Town against Liverpool at 20:00 on Friday 4 September. Seven matches follow on Saturday, Newcastle United against AFC Bournemouth at 12:30, a five-match block at 15:00, and Hull City against Aston Villa at 17:30. Sunday carries the two biggest: Everton against Manchester United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium at 14:00, and Arsenal against Chelsea at 16:30. Times are per the Sky Sports fixture list and NBC Sports' 2026-27 schedule, which agree on every kick-off.
Manchester United arrive tenth on three points from two matches, with five goals scored and four conceded, per the Sky Sports and ESPN tables read on 1 September. All five of those goals came in one afternoon. They lost 2-0 at Hull City on 22 August, both goals from first-half set pieces, then beat Ipswich Town 5-2 at Old Trafford on 30 August with Bruno Fernandes scoring on 40, 61 from the penalty spot and 68. Jacob Greaves put through his own net and Bryan Mbeumo finished it on 82, per ESPN's match reports.
Opta, via The Analyst, records Fernandes taking eight shots against Ipswich Town, the joint-most of any Premier League appearance he has made, and finishing with three goals and an assist. Four goal involvements in one match is a career first for him, and it was his second Premier League hat-trick, both of them in Manchester United's opening home fixture of a season. Set against the two scorelines, that leaves Fernandes with a hand in four of the club's five league goals.
The summer went on midfield. Andrey Santos arrived from Chelsea for 48m pounds plus 2m in add-ons per ESPN, a figure Sky Sports printed as 50m. Youri Tielemans came from Aston Villa for 35m on a five-year contract. Carlos Baleba joined from Brighton and Hove Albion for 65m plus 5m in add-ons per ESPN, a deal Al Jazeera valued at 70m, on a five-year contract with a further year's option. Taken at the highest figure a named source printed for each, that is 155m pounds on three midfielders, and 148m guaranteed.
Elsewhere in the round, Hull City have not conceded a goal in the competition this season. Newly promoted through the play-offs, they have won both matches and sit third. Aston Villa arrive at the MKM Stadium 19th and still without a point. Arsenal have not conceded either, and Chelsea have won both their matches while conceding five, which puts both clubs on six points going into Sunday's meeting at the Emirates Stadium.
