About The ARCHV
The ARCHV is a football publication that checks what it prints and draws what it publishes. It files daily on the transfer market and international football, and regularly on the league season, in plain English, with original illustration in place of photography. Entries stay up, dated, in the order they were filed, which is what makes the site an archive.
What we publish
Three desks: the transfer desk, international football and the leagues. Each entry is short and written to be read once, without jargon or padding. Alongside them sits the poster archive, nine World Cup finals drawn in the house style, Mexico 1970 to Lusail 2022.
Everything reads free on the web. The same stories reach the iPhone app, which carries no paywall and nothing to buy.
Who makes it
The ARCHV is written and edited by Joseph Bankole, who founded it. He is the named author on the site and the person answerable for what it publishes. His own site is josephbankole.ca.
How the work is checked
Claims are checked before they run, and the method is published rather than assumed. What counts as a source, when a single named reporter is enough on their own, and how a contested story is handled are set out in how we verify.
The artwork is ours. Original illustration only: no photographs, no club crests, no kit designs and no competition marks. The faces are stylised drawings published as editorial commentary.
When we get it wrong
An entry is never quietly rewritten. A change is appended to the piece and dated, so the first version stays readable next to the correction. The corrections policy sets out how that works and how to report an error.

Who we answer to
The ARCHV is independent. It is not affiliated with FIFA, or with any club, federation, league, competition or player. Nobody in the game approves the copy and nobody pays for it.
