The number of Sprint weekends rises from 6 to 10: Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi host a Sprint for the first time, per Formula1.com.
Two old venues return. Portugal comes back at Portimão in June, and Turkey comes back at Istanbul Park in October, between Azerbaijan and Singapore, per Formula1.com and PlanetF1. The Dutch Grand Prix has gone after its last race in 2026, and Barcelona is off the 2027 calendar, expected back in 2028 in a rotation with Spa, per Sky Sports and PlanetF1. The calendar comes with a backup plan. Sky Sports reports that F1 delayed the announcement because of the conflict in the Middle East. The Race reports that if Bahrain and Saudi Arabia cannot run on their dates, F1 would look to bring the Australian, Chinese and Japanese races forward.
