Two days after the boos at Old Trafford, the Manchester United head coach talked about the job, the crowd and the team for Craven Cottage.
Michael Carrick was asked on Friday how long he has left as Manchester United head coach. "In terms of future and ownership and how long I've got, it's totally nothing," he said, per BBC Sport. "It's ridiculous to think that way in the position I'm in, it's just not on the radar." The Peoples Person's full transcript of the press conference carries the same answer.
The question followed Wednesday's League Cup third-round defeat by Brighton and Hove Albion, 3-2 at Old Trafford after Manchester United had led 2-0, and the boos from the Stretford End at the end. Asked about the boos, Carrick told reporters: "It's not that I don't feel the emotion of losing matches, but it doesn't affect how I think about what we need to do next." He added that he had been "expecting a spell we had to work through", per BBC Sport.
On team news, Carrick said "there is a chance" for Luke Shaw and Carlos Baleba to feature on Sunday, though he was not "100%", per BBC Sport and The Peoples Person. Baleba has yet to play for the club. Asked about 15-year-old JJ Gabriel, he said: "He's a young boy, it's important we don't play anything out here."
The press conference came a day after Ben Jacobs told The United Stand that Manchester United are "doing their due diligence in case they have to make a change", per Sports Mole and Football365. That is Jacobs's reading of the club's thinking, not a statement from the club.
