The match
Antoine Semenyo scored the only goal on 72 minutes, turning in Erling Haaland's low cross, per the Football Association's own match report.
It was, by the FA's own description, a tight and tense final. Neither of these sides is short of players who can end a game in a moment, and for an hour and a bit neither produced one.
Why it mattered
It is Manchester City's eighth FA Cup and it completed a domestic cup double, per the Football Association. Winning both domestic cups in one season is the kind of achievement that gets called a consolation at a club like this and would define a decade at most others.
The scorer is the footnote that is more interesting than the trophy. Semenyo, signed from Bournemouth, scored the goal that won Manchester City the FA Cup, finishing a cross from the most expensive certainty in the league. Haaland got the assist. Somebody always does.
